BATTENS
The tile should be fixed using battens at 600 centres or 900 centres, with a maximum batten spacing of 245mm for the Slate Tile and a maximum batten spacing of 290mm for the Roof Shingle. If the tiles are to be fitted to ply sheeting, the location lugs on the tile should be removed prior to fixing the tiles to the sheeting.

TILE FIXING
The tile should be secured using a 35mm galvanised nail or coated screw. The tiles should be fixed to the battens using the location holes manufactured in the tile.

HIP CUTS
Where the tile has been cut to create a hip, the tile must be secured at the top and the bottom of the tile by drilling holes into the tile and then using two screws to screw the tile to the batten.

VALLEY CUTS
Where this is required, the tile should be secured by two screws to the batten using the location holes manufactured in the tile.

SISALATION
Where the pitch of the roof is 18 degrees or less sisalation must be used. Where the roof pitch is greater than 18 degrees, it is recommended that sisalation be used. The decision not to use sisalation should be made only after a full assessment of the roof has been completed by the specifier.

RIDGE CAPPING
The ridge cap should be secured using a 50mm tech screw or larger. The ridge cap and the tile should be drilled to allow for the ridge cap. All joins in the ridge capping should be riveted together and sealed with silicon.

GUARANTEE
The Barrington Slate Tile and Roof Shingle are guaranteed for 30 years on structural performance and colour fastness subject to the correct installation of the tile and any matters beyond our control.
